Saturday, January 22, 2005 This was an amazing story I found about a Scientologist working up there in Thailand...
STORY OF A THAI SCIENTOLOGY VOLUNTEER MINISTER On 28th December: Patrick, Ramnaree and I drove to Takua Pa. When we approached to Phangna area I could see the first area that was hit by tsutami and we started seeing dead bodies alongside the road to Takuapa district. I felt upset, but I kept my concentration, no crying and no tears, and kept my upset inside, because I knew that we came here to help people and only we can be stronger than those victims and they needed people who are stronger than them. So I kept looking and thought how I could help them. We kept driving along the road and went past Khao Lak and I saw a lot of dead bodies along the road that were collected from the damaged area waiting to be carried out to a nearest temple. When I opened the window, I could smell dead bodies…. which killed my appetite - I could eat, but needed a lot of water and coffee. And then we went to Takuapa Hospital and I saw a lot of injured people there. I talked to two old women, they were lying on the floor and I went up to them and started talking to them. They then sat up and started telling me what happened to their family, and they started crying. I kept my concentration - I wanted to cry, but I kept telling myself, “You cannot cry Meow. You came here to help, not to cry.” And I started to help them by asking them “where were you when it happened" and then asked them where they are now, until they looked at me and asked me, “Are you a doctor?” And when I told them, “No, I am just a volunteer,” they laughed and told me that many people came here to help, but I finished my job there. At the night we went to Wachira Hospital to help injured people there by giving them "assists". (Scientology technique which brings people to present time, as people are often still mentally & emotionally stuck at the time of the traumatic incident). I gave them "touch assists" first, but all of them were still stuck in the past, so I gave them "locational assist" first and then touch assist. This helped them a lot. One of them whom I gave assist (her name is Noy from Naiyang beach) started crying when I asked her “how are you” and I asked her questions as I did before in Takuapa and it was successful again. And then I started locational and then touch assist until she felt relaxed and I told her I will be back tomorrow. She said she will be waiting for me. On 29th December: In the morning, I went back to the lady and did the same thing again. She looked relaxed, but after that she told me that the previous night it was hard for her to breathe and she needed oxygen and she had pain in her lung. I told a doctor who was in-charge of her. The doctor took her to an X-ray room and I was waiting until she came back. Her husband told me that her lung had infection and she looked tired, but I just talked to her and did a touch assist and she told him that she felt relaxed and that I let her sleep. In the afternoon, we separated into two groups and Andy, Syviyn, Pui and I went to Takuapa. We got there around 6pm and we started helping them at Yanyao Temple (Wat Yanyao). We were told that they wanted volunteers to wrap up dead bodies and put them in a cool container. I wanted to cry, because I had been always afraid of dead bodies. I told Andy that I wanted to go back home and it was hard for me to work with dead bodies, as it was so stinky (at that time there was no dry ice). Andy told me that we are Scientologists who help society, and this is our job as Volunteer Ministers (doing whatever is needed). I spent 30 minutes to take a deep breath in front of the temple and then I came back to Andy and told him “I’m ready to work with dead bodies” and Andy said “start.” I stayed all night handling dead bodies. In that night, I could not sleep, but was ready for the next day. On 30th December: We started working early in the morning around 5:30am and had to sit in front of the dead bodies to count the number of dead bodies that came in and out. Now I can do everything but go back to Bangkok. In the afternoon I had to count dead bodies again, but at this time I had to check their sex - Oh my god! I had to confront them and look their bodies very closely, which I had never done before. On 31st December: I did the same thing again - now that I know I made lots of differences in the environment, I am not afraid of dead bodies or ghost any more. On 1 January 2005: We started giving assists on relatives and volunteers who were there and I have had a lot of wins from this. Many people know our tech is workable for helping people. I gave so many never assists that I had never done before. On day two, I gave assists to around 40-50 people and all of them felt relaxed and wanted more after the assists. 7 years old girl who came with her grandma and had been refusing to eat for two days - even water, because she wanted to see her mother’s dead body. I talked to her and asked her about funny things. After few minutes she asked me for milk and then she told her grandma that she wanted foods and then both of them enjoyed their fist meal in two days. It was so great to see them eating food. Another woman was looking for her daughter. She said she would be able to confront her dead body, but when she actually saw the body, she could not and she fainted. She was brought to me and I spoke with her until she felt better, at which point I gave her locational. At first, she refused to eat, so I helped her to come back into present time. After that she asked me if she could go see her daughter’s dead body. I said, “No, if you don't eat, how can you go see your daughter? Nobody wants you to faint in front of her." She smiled and then she tried to eat and then got ready to go on. Another woman who was waiting for her nephew whose name was “ Nong Dol.” I routed her to the area where pictures of dead people were put up and then gave her nerve assist. She felt relaxed and then started telling me with tears and smile how cute and talkative her nephew was. The day after she came to see me again and I gave her never assist and I encouraged her to stay lively for her nephew. On the third day she came to see me again and said with tears that she found her nephew's body and that she was taking him back to Bangkok. The first three days that I worked in the morgue, I could help many people to get through what they needed to go through. Some of them were confused and didn’t know what to do and who they should talk to when they found their relatives' dead bodies. When they came to me and I guided them and I was so happy when I saw their happy faces. Some of them came back to me afterwards and said "thank you" to me. They always said that if they wanted something, they knew they had to come and ask "Yellow shirts". When I first came to the south (disaster area) I didn’t tell my parents where I was and what I was doing, because my mother is not very strong and I didn’t want her to concern about me. But after my sister saw me in the ITV news, she told my mother about it and my mother said to my sister that she was so proud of me, because it was the best thing to help people. When I called her, her voice sounded very happy, and she told me to keep doing what I was doing, because that was the right thing to do as a human being who helps others. Suppalak Waiyawik
